Post-traumatic stress and awareness in patient with traumatic lower limb surgery by neuraxial anesthesia: A randomized clinical trial

Aim of the study Anesthesia decreases brain cognitive function, memory and pain, also leads to loss consciousness. In this study, midazolam propofol-sedated trauma patients undergoing lower limb surgery were evaluated for stress levels after neuraxial anesthesia. Subject or material methods This double-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted on with extremity fractures due trauma, who candidates elective orthopedic surgery. Patients randomly divided into two groups (n=110) midazolam-sedated Then, all underwent spinal anesthesia using 3 ml 0.5% bupivacaine (3 mg/kg). Propofol (25-75 µg/kg/minute) infused, 1-2 mg injected PRN until reached score Modified Observers' Assessment Alertness/ Sedation Scale (MOAA/S). Results Preoperative sedation/alertness scores in did not differ significantly from one another. Penetrating memories group higher than propofol (P<0.05).
